WE ROCK IT LAST NIGHT GUYS!
Last night we showcased our dance at the UK Rock Challenge Southampton Heats to a jammed packed audience along with some other great schools. After a very early start and incredibly long, but enjoyable day we performed fifth in Act 1 and smashed it. We walked away last, not being able to rank (as we are already a Premiership Standard College) but were awarded 8 out 12 awards of excellence including;
Award of Excellence in Choreography
Award of Excellence for Soundtrack
Award of Excellence for Drama Skills
Award of Excellence in Performance Skill
Award of Excellence for Costume
Award of Excellence for Staging
Award of Excellence for Lighting
Award of Excellence for Video Performance
What an amazing achievement! Also congratulations to the top three ranking schools…. Well Done! So, now it back into the studio to plan and imporve ready for the SOUTHERN PREMIER GRAND FINAL at Portsmouth in June… Bring. It. On!
UK Rock Challenge 2012 Southampton Showcase - (Backstage) Looking Good!
On thursday, we’ll have the opportunity for two technical run throughs on the southampton guildhall stage with full lighting, set and music but no costume. Here’s a picture of what we looked like last year, in ‘Life Isn’t A Fairytale’ 2011 Entry. Can’t wait for thursday…
So, with the help of Sophie Henderson we’re finally up and running PROPERLY! It’s the week of the Rock Challenge showcase, and everyone has rock on the mind. Last minute behind the scene preperations are being made before wednesday final rehearsal, then it’s off to Southampton Guildhall on thursday for the performance. Watch this space and we’ll let you know how we got on…. STAY TUNED! :)

This year theme is… NO! WE CAN’T TELL YOU THAT! Haha… Rehearsals are underway and everybody had UK Rock Challenge 2012 on their minds! Nicola and all the BTEC 1st & 2nd years have been busy creating movement material and we’ve been rehearsing weekly in the studio on a Wednesday from 1 - 5:30pm! It’s tiring, but well worth it! We can’t wait till March 1st to showcase at the Southampton heats! Well, that’s it for now, and untill next time… Keep Dancing!
